Another city where a UNESCO World Heritage site is worth a visit. We are talking about the Mezquita of course. First a Catholic church, then demolished and in 756, a mosque was built. After the last Moors were expelled from the region, the building in 1236 was once again transformed into a cathedral. The church is actually built around the mosque. This creates a unique structure that really is worth visiting. But if you are still in the city, walk through the narrow streets. And if you still have time, visit the Medina Azahara just outside Cordoba. This is an ancient walled Arab city from the time of the caliphate of Cordoba.
